Without A Clue

I first heard of Matthew Perryman Jones back in 2003 when he lent his creative services to Belmont RUF’s Indelible Grace III record. Amazing. One of the songs he did on the record (Jesus, Cast a Look On Me) was played during our wedding.

Well, I’ve done a pretty good job of keeping up with him over the years since then and had the opportunity to catch him at Mercy Lounge over the summer. I also ran into him at Portland Brew a few weeks back, but he was on the way out and I’m sure he didn’t know who I was. A few nights ago, I popped onto his myspace to see if he was playing around Nashville anytime soon and I was pleasantly surprised to find a new song called “Without a Clue” on his music player. My brother and his family were in town over the weekend. His youngest, Asa (3 months), was a little fussy at times but was immediately soothed when this song came on. It was amazing to see. And it didn’t happen just once… over and over and over again. He was mesmerized by Matthew’s melody.

I’ve been listening to this tune nearly nonstop since then and I can’t get over it. I’m letting the lyrics sink in still, but the melody is so refreshing… killer!

Click on his mugshot below to go listen to the song. You’ll be glad you did!
