We accomplished much
The writing session two weekends ago went very well, I would say. Matt and Karen got into town mid-afternoon and we set up guitars in my “studio”. He came with 6 or 7 notebooks full of everything he’s written since high school. He also brought musical ideas and riffs, which helped out with our direction.
After dinner, we hit it hard and blasted through two songs, getting rough guitar and drum tracks down on a live recording by 10:15 or so. These, of course, will be redone and tweaked a bit once we have time to digest the parts a little more and Matt is able to add guitar lines over what we have so far. Saturday morning we had breakfast and warmed our ears, fingers, hands and feet up. You know, it’s hard to play loud music in the mornings. After a few minutes warming up, we took on a third song and wrapped it up after an hour or so. The rest of the morning was spent re-tracking the first two songs and getting a solid take of the third.
Working titles: All You Have, Remember, and Better Day. Once we get some more done on them, I’ll update again. Not sure when that will be, but I have a feeling we’ll make it soon.
Matt let me hear some of what you guys did. I’m so jealous! You guys are so danged talented. Why don’t you loan me some of the immense talent that you have in your big toe! That should hold me over for the rest of my life!
