So today is my birthday
My lovely wife said we could do anything I wanted since today was my birthday. So, for weeks I had been planning on making the short drive to Nashville to go see a show. And that we did. Last night was a good one. But first, let’s talk about dinner beforehand.
Just down the road from our house, we have this nice eatery called Red Robin. It’s a gourmet burger joint and they have anything and everything you could imagine on their “Signature Burger” menu. We had never been and we thought it would be a cool casual stop before we spend a big night in Nashville. Hannah had the Whiskey River Barbeque Burger and I had the A1 Peppercorn Burger. I finished mine and even had a couple bites of her’s… you know, just to make sure it wasn’t going to waste. Needless to say, I didn’t need any refills on their “bottomless” fries. If you live near one of these restaurants, by all means enjoy it.
With full bellies and empty bladders, we went on into Nashville to the Rutledge to see some local artists perform. First up was a guy named K. S. Rhoads who was a good writer but a bit of a jerk. I didn’t know he was even on the ticket last night. Musically, great. Lyrically, great… minus a couple of words. Next up was Tyler James who is the reason we went to the show. I’ve been digging on his tunes for a few months now and he’s quite good at his craft. Young man with an old Bob Dylan style. Very cool stuff that did not disappoint us last night. And the final group was a duo/trio called Disappointed by Candy who had a great indie/electronica sound. Lots of programming but very melodic rock. Jeremy Lutito played drums and vibes and sequenced for them. He’s impressively talented and has some beautiful Rogers drums… made me drool into my Guinness. Not to mention that he’s got some pretty stout credits for being so young. Right now he’s playing with Jars and a few other people. Definitely check into DBC’s new record that’s coming out in July. And Ty James has one about to be released I believe.
Lots of fun was had and enjoyed ourselves. Today, Hannah baked me a pound cake and I played drums. A lot. Because it’s my birthday and anything (almost) goes.
I hope all of you lovely people have a wonderful week ahead. Here are a few pictures from the show.

Happy Birthday!
